CONCEPT
After reading Pollux’s notes, SOLARA decides to visit the South — Sigma Octantis (Pandora’s star). The journey is the song: old world healed, flowers, children laughing, people thanking her for what Pandora and Elara built. She feels a deep connection. They arrive at Sigma Octantis — it’s hurting. She hears a cry for help. She starts running.
LYRICS
[Verse 1]
South
She said it like she already knew the direction
The old world opens differently
When you have been reading all night
Pages and pages of people who changed everything
And now you are walking through what they changed
Are those flowers
They planted those last season
When did they start doing that
When things stopped being on fire
Is that a child laughing
Yes
We don’t get that much in the levels
No
[Pre-Chorus]
Someone recognized her from the bar
Came running
Hands out
Not reaching — just open
You came back
Everything is different because of you
We eat now
We didn’t before
She stood there
Not knowing what to say
She said: I’m glad
[Chorus]
Sigma Octantis
South pole of everything
The mirror star, the anchor
The one that never moved
She’s walking toward you
She doesn’t know she’s walked this way before
But her feet know
Her feet remember
Sigma Octantis
Something in the south is calling
She can hear it
Low and far
Like a light that is trying to stay on
[Verse 2]
More of them
Outside the market
Outside the temple that was not a temple anymore
Outside the places that used to be locked
Why do they keep looking at her
They’re saying thank you
For what
Everything
Lara was still writing
She had filled four pages just on the flowers
Aldric walked like he had maps for exactly this street
He did
Persy found a stand selling things on sticks
Rion was already eating one
Cygnus touched a wall like it was trying to tell him something
Herc put his hand on a child’s head
The child did not seem bothered
How much farther
Not far now
She’s been walking faster without noticing
[Pre-Chorus 2]
She stopped in the middle of the road
Not because of a crowd
Not because of anyone saying her name
Because something in the south
Pulled
Like a string
Like something that knew exactly where she was
[Bridge]
Sigma Octantis
She could see it even in the light
South pole star
Anchor star
Mirror star
And it was—
Something was wrong
The light was—
Not steady
She had read about this star last night
Pages and pages
Pandora found this star in the darkest part of what she survived
It anchored her
It held her when nothing else did
And now it was flickering
She took one step south
Then another
The crew followed without being asked
And then
She heard it
Not a sound exactly
More like the space where a sound should be
A cry
Low
Old
Like something that had been holding on
For a very long time
And was starting to not be able to
[Final Chorus]
Sigma Octantis
What happened to you
She doesn’t know your name yet
But she knows that sound
Sigma Octantis
She’s coming
She doesn’t know why she’s running
But she’s running
Something in her
Older than memory
Older than the fold
Older than Level Twenty-Nine
Knows
[Outro]
She ran
The crew ran
Nobody asked why
Nobody needed to
The star cried
She heard it
That was enough
